A beautiful tachi mounted Gendaito by Kanehiro

Kanehiro made swords in Seki City, Gifu perpecture during WW2 period and became a Gendaito smith after the war.

The blade is in its old polish that has been carefully maintained over the years with no rust and in mint condition. There is a beautiful hamon running the whole blade with a deep omaru (turn back) at its tip.

Swords made to commemorate 2600 years of the IMPERIAL THRONE usually has a long tip and very well made.

The sharp blade is mounted in a Showa era tachi koshirae and an edo period tsuba. It is believed to be mounted from an officer sword after the war, into a presentation sword.

The tang is signed by Kanehiro and with the inscription of to commemorate 2,600 years of the Imperial throne on the other side.
