SC0159

A beautiful Koto Era Samurai sword.

14th Century Koto mounted in abalone shell koshirare.

The very sharp blade was originally much longer and has been shortened at one time. It has a suguha hamon with small ashi. It seems to be the work of Rai Kunimitsu, student of Rai Kunitoshi and he worked from 1326-13

This sword is a good candidate for shinsa and would leave it to the scholars to determine its maker.

Nagasa: 63.3 cm. Sori: 1.7 cm.
Moto-haba: 2.7 cm. Saki-haba: 1.6 cm.
Moto-gasane: 0.7 cm. Saki-gasane: 0.4 cm.
