In Memory Of Steve Oltuski

In memory of my friend, Steve Oltuski.

Case: Very good

Movement: Clean in good working condition

Bracelet: Original 14k Rolex USA in 75% condition.

Dial: original and in very good condition with a alphabets of 1/4 Century Club set as hour markers.

Remarks: Rolex made these watches on special order for the Eaton Company to present to their workers for 25 years of service. According to information gathered, in the earlier years, watches and rings were presented but since 1970, Eaton had stopped presenting these items and instead giving out vouchers to their workers. Over time, many new owners of 1/4 Century watches took off the inscriptions which bear the original owners' name off the watch backs and replaced the dials with new Rolex dials, therefore these watches are becoming rarer as time goes by. These days, it is hard to get one with good original dial. I have seen many 1/4 Century watches but this is the first example that I saw that comes with an original gold bracelet.

According to info, there were 579 14kt, 3 18kt and 3 steels round 1/4 Century Club automatic watches given out. Before that-1952-1960, there were round manual wind models. After 1969, the company switched to giving 14kt Bulova Accutrons and now to a small pension and gift voucher.

Special Note:

This is the last piece I bought from my good friend, the late Steve Oltuski of Northern Time in Ontario, Canada and I am keeping it in the memory of a good friend. I first met Steven in New Orleans NAWCC in 1990 and through out the years till he passed away, I had bought almost all the 1/4 Century Club Rolex Watches that came onto the market, automatic, round and Princes from him.

He was a true gentleman and shall be sadly missed by all who had known him.
