The blade is dark colored showing a very nice hamon and it has an O-kissaki.
The smith's name could have been cut off when the Tang was shortened to meet the army requirement and it has a cutting edge of 26 inches.
Despite its age, the blade and its mount are in excellent condition and the blade fitted very nicely into the scabbard.
The tassle shows it belonged to a company ranking officer and most likely not involed much in battle as the condition of the scabbard shown no battle wear.
