This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings.
The blade is hand forged, made pre WW2 and is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri shape, in its original polish and the cutting edge is very sharp. The temper line is suguha temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep o-maru temper at the point.
The scabbard is made of wood with minor lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping shows aged wear but no loose and in decent condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 60 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 27" tip to the guard, 26+5/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 40" in mountings.
