After the collapse of the Qing Dynasty, the law that prohibited the commoners from owning Imperial wares was abolished. With the beginning of the Republic of China, collectors rushed to mop up all the Imperial wares taken out by Palace staff when the Qing reign ended.
The out of work craftsmen from the shut-down Imperial kilns began to make high quality wares with fake Qinlong reign mark to satisfy the never ending demand from porcelain collectors.
These 2 vases are good examples of the high quality porcelain made during that period by the ex-Imperial kiln craftsmen.
The best Imperial wares were made during the reigns of Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong.
However, Qianlong period produced the best examples of all Qing Imperial wares.
