This is a sword carried by a civilian working for the Japanese Military. Due to shortage of tamahagane (iron ore) and with great need for swords, many were made using foreign steel, railway steel, stainless steel forged in one piece.
The blade has a cutting edge of 61cm and very sharp. The steel looks shining and hamon is suguha. This is made with foreign steel and not forged traditionally.
The combat saya is protected with leather.
The civilian koshirae is in excellent condition and the last photo shows an optional new wooden saya with golden brusting design.
Overall condition of the Sword is in excellent condition.
