Kanemich( 2) Military Officer sword-WW2

This is a Japanese WWll Army office's sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Kanemichi saku", dated "Showa Jugo-nen San-gatsu (March, 1940)" with Showa inspection stamp, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade.

Kanemichi's real name is Kojima Tokijiro, born in July 1902, lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time period and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed John Slough's book page 46, 47, 48 and rated 2 million smith. Amongst the hundreds of sword smiths that were active in Seki during WW2, only 4 were rated as Yen 2million. The much sought after Yasukuni swords, only 2 of the Yasukuni shrine smiths were rated as Yen 2million. kanemichi's swords have been issued Hozon certificate by the NBTHK.

The blade is in original polish and the temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep o-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada. and the cutting edge is very sharp.

The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, shows tiny lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched no number stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 26+3/8" tip to the guard, 25+1/2" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 7 mm thickness at the notch and 38+1/2" in mountings.
