SC0036
2 extra long swords were specially ordered, a 76.5cm blade for Lt. General Hoshino and this 75cm blade for his assistant.
In the photo of Lt General Hoshino surrendering to the Americans and it showed that he was a quite a tall man compared to the average Japanese soldiers of the time and his assistant officer was a tall man too.
The smith, Kanetaka was also a tall man as indicted from his name "TAKA" meaning high.
This sword was for the assistant, who was from a samurai background as indicated by the clan mon on the tsuka.
From the overall mint condition of the sword, the owner was in a commanding position and not involved in field action.
