SC0202
A beautiful Bizen Osafune Koto sword.
A very nice Koto found in an estate sale of a gentleman who's father travelled to Japan around the turn of the century to start up the first YMCA in Japan and was presented with this sword for his effort.
This sword was stored away in the attic, neglected and forgotten.
Despite the uncaring condition, it is very sharp.
Photo 2 shown the after restoration stage and currently in Japan for shinsa to find out who made this.
I have cleaned off the rust and done some minor cosmetic polishing and now, it is very beautiful with the hamon full of activities but I was unable to capture it with my mobile phone camera. The tang is corroded as with most kotos and the signature is hardly visible.
One of my favorite short swords with lots of characters.
