SC0028

Kyu gunto with Arsenal stamp.

An old Kyu Gunto with Arsenal stamp and remains razor sharp after going through several major wars.

This is one forgotten and neglected sword that was found in an estate sale upon the death of the war veteran who brought it back as a war souvenir.

The blade has a 67cm cutting edge with an elongated tip and there are tiny pits from the blood stain. I leave it as it is as a mark to honor this sword that has seen lots of action in its service days. As part of the restoration process, a suede combat cover was custom made to add on to bring it to its former glory days.

After the Russo-Japanese war, a lot of these Kyu Gunto were reused in WW2 and many swords were taken home by the American soldiers as souvenir after the Japanese surrendered.

Many of these kyu gunto that are coming onto the market were found in estate sales. It seems that there were more swords in America than in Japan.
