Ming Dynasty 7 stars sword

Ming Dynasty 7 stars sword

During the Ming Dynasty, Admiral Cheng Ho made many trade expeditions down the Straits of Malacca and Indonesia.

Many daoist priests were included in the trips and some of them settled down in the towns along the route. They brought with them the Daoist culture.

This type of short sword with 7 copper dots embedded in the blade was the prefered weapon the priests carried for self defense and also for performing daoist ritual. Many could be found at daoist temples in South East Asia but mostly  without the scabbard.

This sword is in excellent antique condition and the edge is very sharp. It could be used for slashing and thrusting.
