SC0063

A mint Japanese WW2 Kyu Gunto with Shinto period blade.

This has a very bright and sharp blade with a very nice hamon that starts from toran (billowing) to gunome(zigzag) to midare-komi boshi. The gold gilt on the handle is near perfect and the wire wrap is tight and looks great.

This is a very old family blade that has been remounted from a wakizashi that is probably mid to late Muromachi and has had one hole filled in the tang. Tang has very old heavy rust in spots and looks like it has never been messed with(cleaned) and the blade has never been shortened.

The overall length on the kyu gunto is 32 3/8 inches long in the scabbard, about 27 inches out of the scabbard, and about 20 inches to guard. The scabbard leather is tight over metal scabbard and looks great
