SC0106
Mighty & Rare Heirloom Kogarasu-maru and shobu zukuri combo style Samurai sword in WW2 Japanese Army Mounting.
Heirloom Kogarasu-maru zukuri style samurai sword remounted in World War 2 army mounting when its owner took it to war when he was called up to serve the emperor during WW2.
This Edo period blade has the rare combination of Moroha zukuri with a length of 75cm inches and a deep sori of 3.4 cm. There is hada all over the entire blade and there is a cutting edge on its back.
This double edged long samurai sword in Gunto mount is so rare that information was not available and believed to be the only one that has appeared in years.
This Shinshinto era blade has a tapered cutting edge on its back.
The blade has very fine forge wood grain forge marks all over the entire blade.
The sword is too long and too curve to be carried in battle and it's more likely being carried by a high ranking army officer as a display of authority. It has a General rank tassle attached.
The family Mon of fuji on the tsuka is an indication that the owner belonged to a samurai family.
The blade has a cutting edge on its back about 12 inches from and all the way to the kissaki. It is very well-constructed featuring an itame hada mixed with straight masame hada all over the entire blade that makes it looks like a wood sword under some light. The hamon is a midare hamon of irregular shape. The hamon is present the length of the blade through the kissaki and back along the mune. The tang is unsigned and unshortened.
The military mountings are Type 98 Shin Gunto and in Excellent condition. The kabutogane shows the famous family mon of fuji, or wisteria, used by clans such as the Shibata. The locking mechanism is an unusual sukura shaped type and not the normal nob.
The overall condition of the sword is in Excellent condition with some age wear on its koshirae.
