Samurai sword by Kanenaga, Muromachi (Eiroku era, around 1558

This sword around late Muromachi by the swordsmith, Kanenaga who was originally from Mino (Now, Gifu Prefecture).

He made good quality functional swords for actual wars during Late Muromachi which was a period of civil war with battles fought all over Japan.

This sword shows the typical characteristics of Mino-den

The Hamon is Nioi-deki, Konotare. Hada is Mokume-hada and in recent polish.

Certificate of Authenticity, authenticated by the appraiser, Mr. Yukinobu Kobayashi from (Jyuho Token Kenkyukai) on March 31, 2008. (No.08495).



This Koshirae was made around Late Edo.
As the shape of Kurikata is Sarusuberi, this Koshirae is
Satsuma Koshirae.
Issaku Fuchi Kashira, design of butterfly and flowers,
made by Shakudo, takabori and kintokin.

The pair of Menuki is design of flowers and rabbits.
Made by Shakudo, Takabori and Kintokin.
Open-work Tsuba is made by iron, and this is Kyo-sukashi Tsuba withdesign of bamboo leaf.


Hacho(Blade length): 71.4cm, Sori (Curvature): 2.2cm
Motomihaba (Width at the Hamachi): 29.9cm ,Motokasane(Thickness of Motokasane): 6.4mm, Sakimihaba: 2.2cm, Sakikasane: 5mm
Nakago (The tang of the blade) Length: 18.8cm
Hamon: Nioi-deki, Konotare, Jihada: Mokume-hada, Tsukurikomi: Shinogi-zukuri

Weight(Approx.): 654g Blade only, tsuka 23.8cm and total length: 99.95cm

Condition: Recent polishing.
There are a few kitae-kizu here with age appropriate.
There are tiny scratches due to in and out from the scabbard.
