This is a fine traditional forged sword ordered by an Army captain from an Ichimonji sword smith in Seki.
Inchimonji was a very famous school in sword making and many of its smith simply sign (ichi) or "one" on the tang.... meaning their swords have no peer.
The 63cm blade is very sharp with a wavy hamon.
The samurai saya is protected by a combat leather mounting.
The handle wrap has some age wear with deep patina sakura menuki.
