Sukesada, Edo era Uchigatana.<br>

A beautiful signed & dated ubu zaimei Shinto O-Wakizashi

Long Wakizashi in full polish with a long & wide thick & stout robust blade mounted in a superb Koshirai

Blade jidai (era) : Shinto period 17th century, Keian era August 1651

Signed : Bishu Osafune Hichibejo Sukesada

Dated : A day in August Keian 3rd year = A day in August 1651

Nagasa/cutting edge : 59cm, Tang : Ubu 1 hole, 14.5cm.

Total blade length : 73.7cm Blade thickness at the habaki notch : 7.1mm, Width at the habaki : 1-3/16", Width at the Yokote level : 13/16", Kissaki/point : 1-1/4",sori/curve : 5/8"

Hamon/temper line : Hamon is a beautiful well controlled & very active wide sugu-notare-ba on both side

Hada/grain : well forged Itame mix

Kissaki/point : strong point with big Boshi/turn-back on both side

Blade is fully new polished, exhibiting some beautiful & very clear activity's all over-it, very healthy with no
fatal flaw like crack/hagire & shinai with no chip no bend mix with some minor small flaw/ware

This sword has more than 30 kiri-komi from sword strikes on its spine, a sign that it has been used in violent sword fights. Most swords has one but so many kiri-komi is a sign that it was involved in a very voilent fight or many fights.
Kiri komi are lightly polished off and retain as an honor to the sword that it had saved its owner many times.

Mounts / Koshirai

All the Fittings are Edo period 18th 19th century

Iron Fuchi-kashira, Shakudo Menuki, Iron Tsuba, Sentoku / brass Kozuka with 2 copper seppa

Original old silver foil Habaki

Handle is solid & good, all original with a old late-Edo period intact black silk ito/wrap

Scabbard is old & original, & as been re-lacquered + mother of pearl
