SC0037
This early war sword with pierced tsuba has seen a lot of actions and somehow survived well. The wrapping on its handle is tight but slightly worn.
The 65 cm blade has some minute rusting spots and I leave them as it is as removing would takes off quite a bit of metal. I dislike swords that has been polished down too much.
The hamon is nice and wavy running along the whole length of the very sharp blade.
American soldiers as souvenir and there were more swords in America than in Japan.
This is a light weight sword Gunto with a slender blade. It is in its original WW2 polish.
The combat leather mount has been replaced with a Gunto98type metal saya.
